Owners Of Sea Otter 26' Narrowboat Katie D

We saw Sea Otters at several shows and the looks attracted us so much we used to look around and drool. This lead to us finally paying our deposit at the NEC boat show in 1999.

All our wishes were carried out in the fit out and Katie D was delivered to Bradford on Avon by Ray Shepherd (managing director) and Paul Hobson (director) in September.

After a short trial she was ours. She has proved very manoeuvrable:- holding a good line even in the wind and turning in little more than her own length. Maintenance is negligible:- including servicing the engine and touching up the inevitable scratches in the paintwork.

We have the freedom of the waterways, wherever there is a slipway. This year we were slipped in at Evesham and then cruised up through Stratford on Avon and Birmingham to Fradley. Then up the Trent and Mersey, Macclesfield and Peak Forrest canals. Finally, the Shropshire Union and back to Sawley for Sea Otter to bring us back to the Bath end of the Kennet and Avon. This took us 6 weeks against the 12 weeks it would haev taken us if we had had to boat all the the way. Brilliant !!!!
