All of the boats are made from the same marine
grade aluminium alloy, offering it's owner strength and durability
as well as minimal maintenance. For over a decade, Sea Otter narrowboats
have represented the pinnacle of quality and luxury.
Exteriors And Performance
Sea Otter narrowboats are the Rolls-Royce of the
inland waterways. Like all Sea Otter boats, our narrowbats are
constructed from Marine grade BS5083 aluminium alloy. It is a
material commonly used where strength and longevity are required.
Aluminium alloy is a material favoured by the majority of small
commercial craft builders. This includes RNLI lifeboats which
prove their ruggedness on a daily basis. Buying a Sea Otter means
that your never have the expensive burden of annual hauling out
and re-blacking or changing anodes.
In choosing a Sea Otter, you will enjoy many benefits.
You will experience a substantially lower cost of ownership and
a massively reduced cost of maintenance. We believe that time should
be spent enjoying life afloat rather than constantly performing
maintenance on your boat.
A Sea Otter can be finished in any colour you
wish and for that final personal touch we will add coach lines
and sign writing. Any paintwork seen on a Sea Otter boat is purely
cosmetic as the aluminium will not rust. The estimated life for
the paintwork is 25 years, but even without it's paint you need
not worry about the certainty of rust. Whatever colour you choose,
the superb finish provided will be to the highest standards and
look good for many years to come making you the envy of fellow
non Sea Otter boat owners.
All Sea Otter narrowboats use a proven, reliable, and economical
inboard marine diesel engine. The engines provide all the required
power whilst also ensuring this is done with minimal engine noise.

The Sea Otter's unique underwater design and water ballast system
combine to deliver unrivalled handling characteristics, a tight
turning circle and stability. Whether you are experienced or new
to boat handling, you will find the responsive controls of your
Sea Otter make boating relaxing and effortless.
Interiors
Luxurious comfort, innovative design, quality, easy maintenance
and durability are uppermost in our minds when we fit the interior
of your Sea Otter. You have the option of choosing from a choice
of tried and tested layouts included in the standard Sea Otter range
or if you wish to personalise the interior, we are equally happy
to accommodate your requirements to suit your own lifestyle.
Carpets, upholstery and curtains are included as standard with
a choice from a selection of fabulous colours and designs. A wide
range of factory fitted options and accessories allow you to make
your Sea Otter as individual as you are.
All cabins are insulated for year round cruising comfort and hand
finished in quality hardwood faced ply. Interior furnishings are
handcrafted from the finest American white ash and finished with
hardwood trims and capping.
Classic design and reflective surfaces with discreet lighting provide
a clean and contemporary flavour, with streamlined and fully equipped
galleys, incorporating comprehensive cooking and refrigeration facilities
as standard. The one-piece granite effect worktop completes the
galley area. A comprehensively fitted bathroom with full shower,
hand basin and toilet complete the domestic facilities.
Trailable (21' - 31' Sea Otter Narrowboats)
Choosing a Sea Otter narrowboat in the range 21' to 31' will
provide you with an almost infinite choice of cruising locations.
This is one of the most significant benefits of owning a Sea Otter
from the smaller range of narrowboats. The 27'- 31' Sea Otters
can easily be transported by road using a suitable vehicle meaning
you are no longer tied to the same stretch of canal. Gross trailer
weights are 21' 2.45T and 27' 3.4T, the 31' is best trailed by
our purpose built factory vehicles & Trailers.
Launching and recovering is a simple one-person job and because
of the unique water ballast system your Sea Otter becomes 1.5
tonnes lighter out of the water. If you yearn for foreign waters
or just want to move quickly to new cruising waters, you can either
trail the boat yourself or contact the experienced Sea Otter team
who will be more than happy to provide you with an economical
boat moving solution.
Trailing Weight
The gross on the trailer 27' narrowboat is 3400 kilos. We recommend
that you use the factory trailing service for 31' narrowboats
and the 32' cruisers. Current factory charges are £200 per
day in addition to 75 pence per mile for the round trip and also
in addition to VAT at the current rate of 17.5%.
We will be introducing some smaller, lighter narrow beam boats,
trailable behind a large family car for 2006. For information
